Who’s There?
Most of my life has been spent teaching young children, or teaching others how to teach young children. It has been a joyful career! One thing that I would say over and over again to parents who were looking at their child’s artwork is, “Don’t say, What is it? Instead, ask about how the child did it, talk about the colors and the process of the creation!”
This freedom that we gave our young students, inspired me to start painting! It’s about the joy in creation! The process! If a painting doesn’t look the way I want it to look, it’s ok, I can either fix it or put it aside for another day which may or may not ever come. The freedom to see things the way I want to see them. The freedom to try and to fail, and try again. The challenge of combining the colors to get the perfect yellow for the baby chick or green/gray for the distant tree keeps me so engaged that hours pass and suddenly the dogs are starving!
